Eligibility Criteria
Candidates need a Master's degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade) in the relevant subject. A 5% relaxation on this minimum is available for SC, ST, BC (Non-Creamy Layer), and EBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates from Bihar.
On top of the postgraduate requirement, one of the following must also be met:
- A valid NET score for Assistant Professor from UGC/CSIR, or an equivalent UGC-recognized test; or
- A Ph.D. awarded under the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations of 2009 or 2016, which carries a NET exemption under UGC rules; or
- For Ph.D. registrations that began before the 2009 UGC Regulations came into force, the earlier institutional rules apply, and NET/SLET exemption is available provided the degree was earned through regular mode, evaluated by two external examiners, defended in an open viva, backed by two published papers (at least one in a refereed journal), and supported by two conference presentations funded by bodies like UGC, ICSSR, or CSIR.
